General Ezer Weizmann, excerpts:
“It is appropriate to say that peace is a nice thing, but the problem is not peace or war but what we really want in this country. What people do we wish to be, a small or great nation, a nation which has something to tell the world, which believes in its greatness, might and purpose, or not…I do not run, for any price, after peace. I run for the establishment of the people at any price…In my opinion it is not an ideological question between peace or war. It is more a question of mentality: A great Jewish nation does not always know its greatness. See, never was our security situation so good and the capability of our military was not breached in the war. But already today you see, here and there, Jews who are becoming afraid of the gentiles. Let us once for all stop be afraid of the gentiles, and understand that the gentile world is more afraid of us, because it recognizes our greatness more than we ourselves do.”
